So many artists claim "Starving Artist" status. I would go so far as to state that many even wear it as a badge of honor. In art school, we are taught to have a deep reverence for art... so much so that it somehow seems wrong to make money off of something that carries with it a deeper meaning, and so much passion. It is my mission to help artists discover a way to incorporate making money with their art practice without feeling "icky" about it. I want to see artists being able to live daily in their passion, AND make a living by making art.
Why not!?!Begin to imagine what your life would be like if you could make your living by going into the studio everyday. In order to venture into this idea, you first have to open your mind to the possibility. Once you open to the possibility, then you can begin to think about what it would actually take to start up a business with your art at the core. Entrepreneurs do it all the time, putting their passions at the core of their businesses. Can you shift to an entrepreneurial mindset?
What's an entrepreneur anyway? It's a fancy sounding term that simply means: someone who takes on risk to establish a business. It means managing your time well so that you can market your work, write grants, go to openings, make connections, AND...make art! It means having a clear vision about where you want to end up so that you can create the Roadmap to get you there. And it means stretching outside of your comfort zone and moving into uncharted territory.
That's why so many entrepreneurs hire themselves a coach. Not only is there so much to learn, and best practices, but starting a solo business can be daunting and isolating. Having someone to turn to for support when you are going it alone can be so vital to your success. If this sounds like you, then I invite you to sign up for a free "Art Biz GPS Session" today so that we can discuss your goals and get you moving in the right direction. If we decide it would be a good fit to work together, then my "Art Biz Roadmap" program is there waiting for you.
